Corrales, NM Real Estate
Community Information and ResourcesThe Village of Corrales was founded in 1712. The small village was originally developed for agricultural purposes because of its convenient location near the Rio Grande River. There's a reason why Corrales real estate is quickly becoming popular for its location with a traditional small community feel and what the locals have long known for some time. Today the village is home to approximately 7,334 residents.
Corrales is located right between Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. It is a rural, eclectic place full of art and well preserved history. In Corrales you will find a two lane main street that that passes through the heart of town and is lined with specialty shops and restaurants. The heart of town is home to Old San Ysidro Church that was built in 1868. Today it is used as a community center and is open to the public. The heart of town is the site of great festivals. In the summer you can go to the local Grower´s Market, in fall the Harvest Festival, and in the winter the Holiday Festival.
There is a great sense of community in the Village of Corrales. There is a commitment to agriculture, livestock, nature and the animals that live there. It is not rare to see alpacas, llamas, emus or sand hill cranes walking around. It may also be the only place you will see a "coyote crossing" sign along the street.
For entertainment, you may be interested in a horseback ride, a good hike, or some bird watching. Or maybe, antique shopping or taking the family to a festival is more your style.
Local Events and AttractionsBecause Albuquerque and Rio Rancho are just minutes away, many residents take advantage of the entertainment in those cities as well. You may be interested in visiting the museums, the Zoo, Botanical Gardens and Bio Park or shopping in Old Town. You may want to attend a concert or hockey game at the Santa Ana Star Center. Or, you may want to take a day trip to one of New Mexico´s 57 National Parks and Monuments.
I have been told that driving through Corrales is like going back in time. It is sandwiched between two growing cities and still manages to maintain its old town charm.
According to the 2000 Census, the median age of Corrales residents is 42 and the median income is $67,217. According to the Albuquerque Metropolitan Board of Realtors, the average sales price for a home in Corrales in 2006 was $462,492.
